What happened? Who's to blame? What do we do now? Read on and I'll tell you.

This is an article I never wanted to write. I hoped I could avoid it for at least four or eight years... but this day was inevitable. I am glad that I gave myself a 24 hour waiting period before sitting down to do this. An article written last night would have been nothing more than an emotional tangent. But I have calmed down and now I give you my thoughts, emotions, and sentiments.

So... what the fuck happened?

To me, this question should be rhetorical but I am afraid it isn't to many of you. Simply put, Barack Obama defeated George W. Bush last night. Yeah, the name of the ballot said John McCain but this election was clearly a referendum on the Bush Administration. Right or wrong, the Democrats were able to pin the nation's struggles on President Bush and the Republican party, that was their central strategy and it worked incredibly well. John McCain was a good soldier, no surprise there, but he was standing in the path of an avalanche. The media and the far left would like you to think that the avalanche was Barack Obama himself but that could not be more false. The avalanche was the collective hatred for an outgoing, and to the general public, disastrous Bush administration. I will discuss whether this is fair or not a bit later.

I feel compelled to thank John McCain. Not for running a mediocre but feisty campaign, not for rolling the dice on a risky Vice Presidential nominee, but for his last heroic sacrifice. He was a sacrificial lamb and he took it like a man worthy of the title "national hero". Never in American history has a party been so unpopular, and by accepting the nomination, he sealed his fate as the runner up. He knew it, and in the back of all of our minds, we knew it too. No man could overcome the odds he took on and I applaud him for busting his ass to make this a contest. It shouldn't have been. Considering that we have an eight year President with approval ratings in the low 20s, an economy teetering on the edge of a freefall, a protracted foreign occupation and a crisis of national confidence... the challenging party should have won by 20 points minimum. The combination of reticence about Obama and McCain's hard earned trust and respect in the public eye kept the Republican party from receiving the biggest ass kicking in election history. I have never had more respect for a politician. Thank you John... you are a national hero.

Let's talk about the winner of this election, Barack Hussein Obama. Oh excuse me... President-elect Barack Hussein Obama. Congrats... you seized an opportunity to sleepwalk into the presidency and you did it. You are not my president. I will not be fooled and you shouldn't be either. This man is the embodiment of everything that is wrong with United States. It is really not his fault. He is just another of the long line of misguided, foolish and naive peacenik pieces of shit that have come out of the hippie movement of the 1960s. My anger is not directed at him. He did what we all would have done if given the chance. My anger lies at the feet of the American people.

Never before have I been more convinced that American culture, the culture that allowed us to be the greatest nation in the history of the planet, has been destroyed. The average person in this country is not worth the air they breathe. These are the same people who fawn over American Idol, buy houses that they can't afford and would not know the Constitution if it fucked them in the ass. There are people who voted for Obama who are not brain dead (not very many, but there are). The fact that they voted for Obama is testament to the decay of our society. American culture has descended into a celebrity worshipping, hyperactive, uninformed, placated and pathetic state. I simply do not believe that Americans understand what they just did, and the thing is, the vast majority don't give a shit. The United States just elected a celebrity President. End of story. Why is he a celebrity? He is a celebrity for the same reason that Paris Hilton is... because the media told America he was and they bought it, hook, line and fucking sinker. His black gimmick is certainly helpful also. Playing the white guilt card never hurts. Speaking of that...

I am mystified by the monolithic nature of the black vote. They literally voted 95% for this dude. They don't care that he shares nothing in common with them from his foreign upbringing, his African father, his Ivy League education... nothing. They literally share nothing but skin color with this guy and yet they basically ALL voted for him. This should show, once and for all, that blacks are far and away the most racist people in America. Would the Hispanics vote 95% for a Hispanic nominee... no fucking way. Would gays? Nope. Asians... hell no. Only black racism would explain doing something this certifiably insane. Well... I hope you enjoy folks... you have literally just thrown away the "the victim white guilt card". Never again will I accept any black person complaining about lack of opportunity. To all you out there... the gauntlet has been thrown down. Never buy this victim bullshit again.

Wow, this article is taking an uncharacteristic turn. I am not sure I am making sense right now, but I have so much to say that I am having a difficult time keeping it in any sort of rational order.

So most of the blame for this debacle is at the feet of the American populace. We have entered the "Era of the Idiot"... fuck em, they are sheep.

I do have some more blame to dole out. I mentioned the Bush Administration earlier and I want to flesh this out a bit. There is little doubt that the last eight years have been tough, 9/11, a distorted economy, oil prices, etc. No president would have managed to come out unscathed by all of this stuff... but the main failure of George W. Bush was his inability to let the American people know what the fuck was going on. I think he got gun shy because the media had already made him public enemy #1 after his "stolen" victory in 2000. I can somewhat understand that but it is hard to twist what the President says directly to the American people. He made little effort to just come out and earnestly explain his decisions, he instead sent messages out via some dolt to the media only to have those messages muddled by the soundbite driven nature of the American media. This was a colossal failure and the main reason behind his historically low approval ratings. I have no doubt that history will judge him differently but that does not help us now.

The blame? Its with all of us and all Republicans. This election was not about Obama's socialism, hope, change, blah, blah, blah... it was America rejecting the party we have become. We must adapt, evolve, overcome... or whatever creative word you want to use... but the real opportunity in all of this is for the conservative movement to get its house in order.

Now the most important part of this rant... what should we do now? Well, the first thing you can do is to get involved in politics on some level or another. We cannot allow our values to be misrepresented by our party anymore. Our party has been labeled as homophobic, scandalous, racist and overtly Christian. We all know this is bullshit but perception, in this case, is reality. Fortunately... many of the people responsible for this are now out of office. We are now the opposition party. That comes with responsibilities. When your party is in power, it is difficult to change what many see as a winning formula but now that we have been soundly defeated it is time for us to stand up for what WE believe. I have been doing this for awhile now. As you guys well know I have decided that social conservatism cannot be the base of our ideology any longer. I will not be labeled as a Fox-news watching, homophobic, science hating Conservative. Neither should you. I know that many of you out there are social conservatives and I respect that and generally agree with your sentiments. That being said, we have to understand that legislating culture spits in the face of our Constitution.

I hate abortion. I think it is a national disgrace. In a perfect world, it would not happen. But my personal distaste for abortion does not outweigh my devotion to Federalism, freedom and the Constitution. Abortion should simply be a states' rights issue. This needs to... actually I demand that this become the official stance of the Republican party. Believe it or not, we could actually get this done if we simply stated that we believe it is a states rights issue. We need to face facts... many, many women view this as a deal breaker in the voting booth. By talking shit like "culture of life" etc... we are literally throwing out a majority of women. Last time I checked, women make up over 50% of the population of our nation. Winning for losing is not something I am interested in when it gives us fucks like Obama.

I am not a proponent of gay marriage. But... people under 40, as a whole, are pretty nonchalant about this issue. Truth is most people in my age bracket are flippant about marriage as a whole so that makes sense. I cannot sign on to a party whose "base" would like to amend the Constitution to outlaw gay marriage. Amending the Constitution to deal with who people like to fuck is silly and mean-spirited. If I thought that the anti-gay marriage lobby was actually concerned about marriage, it would be different. But we all know what the real score is... it is an attempt, by legislative means, to strike back against being gay. It is really legal gay bashing and it is reprehensible. Once again... marriage is not a federal government issue. Our party's stance needs to be... "states can decide who is married". As for Social Security benefits for the death of a spouse... I say no... other than that, go for it. I would bet that the issue dies right there and we can avoid looking like hate mongers on this issue moving forward.

I know many of you disagree with me on these issues and that is fine. I am merely stating what I can do in the face of this electoral massacre. We dug this hole for ourselves. I am digging out, starting now. I invite you to join me. For us who believe in the Constitution and the greatness of America to gain the upper hand in the coming years... we need to make changes. We are basically the Jews out in the wilderness right now... only we don't have a Moses. People like us can come to control the GOP... let us do it. I am willing to be a part of the solution but I need your help. We need Americans, and the world, to see that conservatism can be a positive force, I believe that here at Arthur's Hall we offer that. I believe that many of you out there are ready.

It is time for Arthur's Hall to become a beacon of positive conservatism. I believe we have the thinkers, the ideas and the ability to sell this. But nothing sells itself...we need people to see what we have to say. The only way to do that is to roll up our sleeves and get busy. We need to promote Arthur's Hall on internet forums, news sites and wherever there are people who need to hear what we have to say. There is a lot of work to be done and soon enough you will see what I have in mind as a platform for 21st century conservatism. We are no longer ruled by the Reagan/Bush conglomerate. We can fix the conservative movement and as a result we can save the nation that we love so much...but it happens with small incremental steps. Join me in taking them...
